There is no denying the fact that the power failures seems to be a recurrent problem and all the measures put in place by Eskom, as promised to remedy the situation seem not to be working. But I want to assure all that as a Committee for Ext 0 are on top of things.

We have been robustly engaging with the utility company to have the problem addressed in its entirety and one must out rightly point out that - the three feeders were installed to jack up the existing ones so as to spread power evenly to all those affected areas, especially if it was windy or raining, as this appeared to be the time when outages were experienced. That exercise has now been completed by Eskom as promised.

POWER OUTAGES TAKING PLACE DURING THE LAST TEN AND PAST FEW DAYS:Information coming out of Eskom is that blackouts happened simply because cables/copper was stolen. It looks like this problem of cable theft is ongoing and, we as a community together with Eskom are going to have to come up with a solution, as to how to have the problem tackled once and for all.

Last but not least. Good people on numerous occasions as a committee have made an urgent call to the whole residents of Ext 0 to attend community meetings but to no avail. It looks like there are people who are only being reactive, as they only wait for problems to surface and once this becomes the case, all of a sudden, they have got these huge e-mails to write with a litany of complaints. It does not work like that at all…

This is a two way stream: And as a committee we can only do so much (our part) and you as a resident have yours to play. Let us all be proactive and responsible people who are prepared to do something about the problems confronting us not only as individuals or families but the entire community of Ext 0 and the broader Cosmo City.
